Ann Solomon

Art has been a part of my life for many years and I have been a member of the National Art League for quite a few years. I have gained inspiration from classes with Pedro Pacheco and with Joan Lazarus in Lynbrook, and both have added a great deal to my art life.

I have won awards at the NAL, including Second Place/Open Show, Bronze Award in Oils/Fall Members’ Show as well as various Merit Awards. As a member of the Long Beach Art League, I have won prizes in their Calendar Show, Cityscape Challenge Show and the Spring Member Show. In addition, I am part of the Clinton Art Society located in Clinton, Connecticut and was given the Charles E. Shea Memorial Prize in their Summer Show in 2012.

I begin my canvas with a vision of my subject. I use oil paint to lay down my first impression of the image with these first strokes. I build on these brush strokes making the connection with and mastering the subject as I have imagined it. My goal as an artist is to immerse the viewer for a bit of time in a vignette of the world personalized by me.
