Felice Zaslow

   After retiring from my teaching career in 2010, I returned to “my path not taken, ”painting.” Having created art at different periods in my life, I am delighted to now make it my primary focus.

   As a youngster I spent time studying at the Brooklyn Museum Art School. This led to a life-long interest in painting and drawing, and then, to an avocation.

I enjoy painting the natural world as well as the man-made one using original photos as my inspiration. My paintings are often influenced by the feeling of oneness I have with nature in certain settings, particularly in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona.

Some of my paintings are reflections of life’s challenges and the strengths I have used to meet those challenges.

   In recent years I have studied at the Art Students League in New York City, as well as with local artists, including the late Ivan Kamalic. Currently I am a member of the National Art League in Queens, New York and The Art League of Nassau County. At the National Art League I am studying with Pedro Pacheco, from whom I have learned many new techniques, which I incorporate in my work. Pedro has inspired me to expand my art with a new vision, moving from the traditional to experimenting with the iconography, color and composition of my paintings.

   In studying with Pedro, I have moved into exhibiting my work, participating in many of the NAL shows as well as the Wisser Library show at New York Institute of Technology. I look forward to continuing to develop my art and am grateful to have a wonderful teacher and a home-base at the NAL.
