Robert Silverman

Rob Silverman graduated from School of Visual Arts and has studied with Harvey Dinnerstein, Burt Silverman, Nelson Shanks and David Leffel—all Portrait Society Gold Medalists. His work has received numerous national and regional awards.

His innovative techniques have been featured in American Artist Workshop Magazine andThe Art of the Portrait, the official publication of the Portrait Society of America.

His classes will concentrate on creating a portrait or draped figure using a unique approach that insures strong composition, accurate proportions and features while allowing for a range of styles from loose and painterly to tight realism.
A particularly challenging facet is flesh tones. He will use some new techniques that will enable you to see color in the shadows as well as the light, thus creating a more vibrant piece of art. In turn, this new skill will aid you in seeing color in the landscape, still life or any situation. Result: you will produce compelling, dynamic art. Other challenging areas of focus, such as anatomy and composition will be simplified and solved, as well. The beauty of capturing the effect of light on form and the thrill of conveying a likeness may be explored in the media of your choice: oils, pastel, and charcoal.
