90th Annual Juried Open Exhibition Prospectus

This prospectus provides the details for entering the show by mail or online. Using the links provided, you can fill out entry forms, submit images of artwork and pay the entry fee via PayPal if appropriate.
 

SCHEDULE

Deadline for submissions:                     April 7, 2020

Notification of acceptance:                    Week of April 10, 11, 12, 2020

 

Receiving date for accepted artwork:

Walk-in/Hand delivered:                        May 9, 2020 from 1pm–4pm AND

                                                              May 10, 2020 from 12pm–2pm

Shipped work:                                       No later than May 8, 2020

 

Reception:                                            May 17, 2020 from 2pm–4pm

Removal date - pick up by artist:          June 7, 2020 from 10pm–2pm

Return of shipped work:                       June 8 - 12, 2020

 

AWARDS

$2,000 in Awards will be presented at the Exhibition’s reception

First Prize      $500

Second Prize $300

Third Prize     $200

Plus Merit and Honorable Mention ribbons

 

JUROR & JUDGE

James LaMantia - Owner and Gallery Director at the LaMantia Gallery in NY

Judging for awards will be on-site. Decision of the judge is final.

 

ENTRY FEE

Members:          $20 one entry, $10 second entry

Non-Members:  $30 one entry, $10 second entry 

Fees are non refundable

ELIGIBILITY

This call for submission is open to all artists 18 years of age or older living in the US. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D media, including sculpture. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. Photography, film, video, computer art, reproductions (such as giclee, prints) are not acceptable unless used as part of a mixed media artwork or collage. Installation art or performance art are not accepted. No crafts (such as jewelry) or kit work. No artwork previously exhibited at NAL will be accepted.

 

Artwork must not exceed 48 inches in any dimension including frame. Sculpture must not exceed 30 inches in any dimension and must be light enough for one person to handle.   

 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. Limited to TWO entries per artist.

2. Entry can be submitted on website or CD. Entry must be in .jpg file format, must include your name

    and title of the work, separated by underscores: (Example: Joe_Smith_A_Walk_In_The_Woods.jpg). 

3. 3D artwork must have two jpg images showing different views.

4. File Size: 150 dpi at 4”x 6”. Orientation: landscape or portrait accepted.

5. Do not send slides, photographs or DVDs . CD’s will not be returned.

2. Download prospectus [click here] and print and mail completed entry form 

3. Check or money order

4. Self addressed stamped #10 envelope or provide email address for acceptance notification.

DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED WORK

1. Artwork can be hand delivered and unpacked by artist on Saturday, May 9, 2020, from 1:00pm–4:00pm and

    Sunday May 10, 2020 from 12:00pm–2:00pm

    at National Art League located:

    44-21 Douglaston Parkway

    Douglaston, NY 11363 

2. Artists who cannot hand deliver their work will be responsible for shipping their artwork to the NAL

    by May 8, 2020. Return shipment must be prepaid. The artist assumes all  responsibility for insuring artwork

    against shipping damage or loss.

3. All work must be suitably framed to a professional standard. No clip frames or taped edges. Canvases may have

    neat gallery wrapped edges. Work must be wired and ready for hanging. No ceiling mounts or special installation

    requirements unless agreed to beforehand by NAL.

4. Sculptors must provide their own pedestals unless agreed beforehand by the NAL.

5. A label must be affixed to the back of the work and must correspond with the Accepted image as

    listed on Entry form. No artwork may be substituted.

6. Artwork may be marked for sale with the understanding that, if sold, 20% of the proceeds will be

    donated to the NAL building fund. Any artwork marked POR (Price on Request) will be considered

    NFS (Not for Sale). All arrangements for shipping of works to buyers will be the sole responsibility

    of the artist.

7. Work cannot be withdrawn, nor sales shipped, before the end of the exhibit.

8. NAL reserves the right to reject and return work that is late, is deemed unstable upon arrival, is

    not properly presented, or differs from the submitted digital image. Returns will be solely at the

    artist’s expense.
