​Class Description

Using provided photographs, you’ll learn to draw with soft pastel pencils, and when you’ve achieved a likeness, learn to shade the face and neck with soft pastel sticks. We’ll also have still-life set ups, and the instructor will check your drawing intermittently throughout the sessions.
 

You’ll learn drawing, composition, proportions, shadow and light,and how all these pertain to still-life as well.

About the instructor:

Barbara Silbert is an award-winning artist and instructor, having taught at the Nassau County Museum of Fine Art, the Art Guild of Port Washington, the Great Neck Community Education Center, the Manhasset Community Club, Haven Art in Port Washington and the Port Washington Senior Center in Manorhaven. She is a current board member and past president of the Manhasset Art Association. Since she was very young, Barbara loved drawing people, especially movie actresses in their beautiful costumes. She attended a local
college where her artistic abilities were expanded into graphic design. After graduating, Barbara worked in the world of advertising and is a retired art director with many years of experience at ad agencies and
corporate art departments.
