Art has always been a part of Caryn’s life. Shortly after graduating with a B.F.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology, she discovered using colored pencils as a fine art medium. Caryn’s style is realism, and her work showcases the smooth textures and fine details that can only be achieved with colored pencils.
Primarily a colored pencil artist, Caryn has enjoyed extending her artistry into other mediums. For the past several years she has done East Asian brush painting. She explains, ‘I enjoy the contrast between the very slow process of creating a colored pencil painting layer upon layer, and the spontaneity of brush painting, where I try to convey the essence of a subject by using minimal strokes of ink and watercolor.’
Caryn is an award winning artist whose work is featured in the publications: CP Treasures– Colored Pencil Masterworks from Around the Globe – Volumes II- VI; The Richeson75 International Animals, Birds & Wildlife 2017 & 2018 Exhibit Catalogs; The Richeson75 International Still Life & Floral 2016 & 2017 Exhibit Catalogs; Strokes of Genius 8: Expressive Textures, The Best of Drawing, edited by Rachel Rubin Wolf; The Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club 118th Annual Open Exhibition catalog; The Peace Project 2013-Peace, Love and Understanding; Colored Pencil Hidden Treasures; Colored Pencil Society of America's To The Point magazine (June 2018, June 2017, January 2016, June 2015, January 2014); Ann Kullberg’s Color magazine (July, 2017, June 2017); Pencil Art Society, A Pas-Sing Glance, March 2016 and the Icarus Art Spring 2015 Newsletter.
