Lana Ballot will do a a pastel dune demo focusing on capturing the light and atmosphere of coastal landscape using a wet underpainting technique.
About the Artist:
Painting to me is a meditation; the attempt to reveal the essence of a place through colors, textures, and character of line. Living on an island, I’ve been fascinated with coastal subjects.
I see coastline as a place of spectacular but fragile beauty, which persists through time and violent outbursts of powerful forces of nature. Standing at the edge of the ocean, meeting the vast expanse of land under the big sky, helps me regain a clear perspective on many things in everyday life. It’s reassuring to watch the rhythm of waves coming to the shore, to see the perseverance of weathered trees holding onto the sand.
I want my art to help people feel the healing power of beauty and reconnecting with nature, while respecting its enormous force.
